De Dolle Oerbier is the flagship of Brouwerij De Dolle Brouwers, located in the West Flemish village of Esen. Born in 1980 when Kris Herteleer and his brother Jo revived the brewery building—its roots reaching back to 1835—this dark, strong ale is brewed with six malt varieties and Poperinge Golding hops. The result is a complex, mahogany-hued ale with a subtle tartness that evolves gracefully as it ages.

Oerbier delivers layers of dried plum, date, cherry and apricot, complemented by woody notes, hints of vanilla and earthy spice. At 9% ABV, the warmth is present but never aggressive. This is a beer that reveals itself over time, both in the glass and in the bottle, balancing fruity depth with gentle sweetness and a refined herbal bitterness.
