La tarppe quadrupel oaked aged Batch #54
La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged Batch #54 is a rare expression of the celebrated Trappist quadrupel from Bierbrouwerij De Koningshoeven. This batch matured for over 3.5 years in red wine barrels from France's Bordeaux region, with 9% new oak at medium toast. The result is a complex, full-bodied ale at 11% ABV, layered with roasted malt, nuts and woody depth.
In the glass, warm amber-red hues emerge beneath a creamy head. The nose reveals vanilla from the oak, joined by walnuts, figs and plums, with subtle leather undertones. The palate delivers rich malt structure, hints of clove and banana, all moderated by the soft, woody character that emerges from extended barrel maturation.
