Klosterbrauerei Weltenburg

Weltenburger Asam bock

The Asam Bock from Klosterbrauerei Weltenburg is a Bavarian Doppelbock named after the baroque architect and artist Cosmas Damian Asam. The brewery traces its brewing heritage to 1050, making it the world's oldest continuously operating monastery brewery.

This strong dark beer opens with roasted aromas and hints of coffee, layered with notes of dried fruit—raisins and plums. On the palate, sweet dark malts unfold as toffee, caramel and dark chocolate, held in balance by restrained hop bitterness and a whisper of anise. The beer is inviting without being cloying.

The texture is creamy and soft with gentle carbonation supporting its full body. A warm, sweet finish lingers, making this a contemplative sipper that rewards slow appreciation.
