Struise Pannepot Grand Reserva (2019)
Pannepot Grand Reserva is a dark strong ale from De Struise Brouwers in Oostvleteren, Belgium, brewed since 2001 in honour of the fishing community of De Panne. This 2019 vintage spent two years maturing in bourbon and calvados casks, adding layers of oak and spirit complexity to the core recipe.
The beer reveals a full, malty character with roasted grain, dark chocolate and caramel. Dried fruit—raisins, prunes and apricots—mingles with vanilla and spice notes. The finish brings brown sugar and a warming, dry close.
This is a beer that unfolds as it warms. The dense body and rich fermentation profile give it a vinous quality that suggests further cellaring potential.
