Palmnut

Mongozo Palmnut is a singular beer rooted in personal history. In 1993, Henrique Kabia arrived in the Netherlands from Angola as a refugee, carrying only his grandmother's recipe. This traditional Angolan beer is brewed with roasted malts and African palm nuts, blended with rice, buckwheat, hops, orange peel and coriander. The result is a reddish-brown ale with distinctive character and substance.

The aroma opens with ripe stone fruit—dates and raisins—layered with alcohol warmth. On the palate, dark fruit notes and the signature palm nut flavour take centre stage, supported by toasty malt. The finish is dry and warming, with a full body befitting its 7% ABV. This is beer with purpose: a fair-trade product that honours an African brewing tradition adapted for a European audience.
