Goose Island Halia
Halia is a Belgian-style farmhouse ale from Goose Island, the Chicago brewery renowned for pioneering barrel-aged craft beer. Brewed with Pilsner, 2-Row and Torrified Wheat malt, it is fermented with Belgian farmhouse yeast and aged in wine barrels with peaches, creating a layered and evolving beer.
The aroma and taste reveal dried stone fruit, pear and a light tartness balanced by subtle wood and barnyard funk from the wine barrel aging. The palate is very dry and prickly on the tongue, with a light body and moderate carbonation that gives it a champagne-like quality. The finish is clean and lingering. This beer is designed to cellar for up to five years, revealing new complexity with age.
