De Dolle Dulle Teve
De Dolle Dulle Teve is a Belgian Tripel from De Dolle Brouwers in Esen, a brewery tracing its history to 1835. The name—'Mad Bitch'—comes from brewery lore. This is a full-bodied, complex tripel at 10% ABV, brewed with substantial pale malt and white candi sugar.
The aroma presents apricot and dried fruit alongside spicy Belgian yeast character and a citrus note. On the palate, caramel, brown sugar and biscuit meld with fruitiness and a clean bitterness. The finish is sweetish with spicy yeast and a citric edge.
De Dolle Brouwers bottle-conditions all their beers and use traditional Poperinge Golding hops. This is a substantial, well-crafted tripel that carries its alcohol warmth without heaviness, rewarding patient tasting.
