Gold
Chimay Gold, also called Chimay Dorée, is a light golden ale from Scourmont Abbey in Belgium. Historically brewed only for monastic consumption, this patersbier eventually entered the public market. At 4.8% ABV, it offers accessibility without sacrificing the Trappist character.
The palate balances malt with citrus and subtle floral notes, finishing with a gentle bitterness. Apple and pear emerge alongside the clean, crisp profile. Light-bodied with lively carbonation, it drinks refreshingly and represents the style with understated elegance—a sessionable companion that proves Trappist brewing need not always be complex.
