Oudaen Dubbel
Brouwerij Oudaen brews its Dubbel in the vaults of Stadskasteel Oudaen, a medieval city fortress in the heart of Utrecht. This dark brown ale is crafted with light and dark caramelized barley malt and classic German hop varieties.
It pours a clear brown with a full, beige head. The aroma is fresh and malty, with distinct notes of caramel, toasted bread and honey. The palate offers a sweet, caramelly foundation with hints of liquorice and bay leaf, while German hops deliver firm bitterness and a crisp bite.
The finish is dry and bitter, with a pleasant hoppy aftertaste. This is an approachable Dubbel that reflects tradition and craft within one of Utrecht's oldest buildings.
