Monte Cristo is Brouwerij Bosteels' fourth beer, introduced in 2019 after 17 years without a new release. This sophisticated strong ale of 12.5% ABV blends pale malt, oats and chocolate malt with Cascade and Citra hops. The beer matures for eleven weeks in oak barrels, followed by the addition of sherry for added complexity.

In the glass, Monte Cristo reveals itself as a refined, full-bodied beer with a dark red hue. The nose offers ripe fruit, wood and bread notes. On the palate, dried fruit, caramel and chocolate dominate, with a creamy mid-palate showing hints of vanilla. The finish is warm and inviting, with old oak and a pleasant spicy character.

This is a contemplative beer for slow sipping, suited to rich dishes and aged cheeses.
