Malheur 12
Malheur 12 is the crown jewel of Brouwerij De Landtsheer, a Belgian brewing dynasty tracing its roots to 1798. This deep chestnut quadrupel at 12% ABV is crafted from three French barley varieties and a specialty malt, then conditioned in bottle and cask for flavour evolution.
The beer presents a full, creamy head and opens with a complex character. Dark fruit—plums and raisins—mingles with caramel and burnt sugar notes, layered with hints of dark chocolate. Spice and fruitiness add dimension, balanced by a cleansing acidity that prevents sweetness from overwhelming.
The finish is warming and refined, with a lingering aftertaste that rewards contemplation. This is a beer designed for slow appreciation and cellaring.
