Zatte Bie
Zatte Bie is a traditional craft beer brewed with high fermentation by Brouwerij De Bie in Wakken, Belgium. This dark, nearly black ale is made exclusively with natural ingredients: malt, hops, candy sugar, yeast, water and spices, produced in small batches.
The full-bodied flavour is built on roasted malt, raisins, dark fruits and spice. The nose reveals figs and raisins with subtle spiced notes. On the palate it is sweet and malty, with hints of licorice and characteristic yeast character. The finish is crisp and well-balanced.
Zatte Bie is a powerful, complex ale best savoured slowly. The name playfully references brewer Lowie, who allegedly became a bit too enthusiastic when tasting his own experiment.
