Barrel Rider is Brouwerij Alvinne's exploration of barrel-aged strength. The brewery, established in 2004 as a pioneer of wood-matured beers in Europe, ages this quadrupel in a curated selection of wine casks—including former Sauternes, Banyuls, Sherry and Calvados barrels—that impart layered tannins and subtle oak character.

Mixed fermentation and Bretanomyces contribute light acidity and funky complexity alongside the quadrupel's natural malt richness. The result is elegant rather than heavy: full alcohol at 12.8%, but refined and rewarding, with wine-like depth and a clean finish.
