Fagnes Brune
Fagnes Brune is a Dubbel from Brasserie des Fagnes, located in Mariembourg in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes. The brewery, founded in 1998, takes its name from the Hautes-Fagnes, a natural highland region straddling the Belgian-German border.
This dark brown Dubbel arrives with a full body and a lasting, creamy head. The aroma blends sweet malt with spices—coriander and liquorice are distinctly present. On the palate, caramel and toffee lead, followed by dried fruit and red berry notes. Top fermentation brings fruity esters to the fore, while bitterness remains restrained.
The beer is well-balanced, with hop character providing gentle counterpoint to the sweetness without dominating. High carbonation lends a crisp finish despite the full-bodied character.
