Old Foghorn is an American classic from Anchor Brewing in San Francisco. In 1975, Anchor introduced the first modern American barleywine, drawing on traditional English methods. This is a full, complex ale with a deep mahogany colour and substantial 9% ABV.

The flavour is heavy and sweet with vinous character. Cascade hops provide subtle bitterness and a hint of spice, while six months of cellar ageing adds further complexity. The mouthfeel is full and oily, almost dessert wine-like, with a sweet and warming finish.

This is a beer to sip slowly and cellar for years to come.
